Eva Boesenberg studied German, English, and Indology in Freiburg and at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her dissertation explored the interrelations between orality, literacy, and black female identity formation in three novels by Zora Neale Hurston, Toni Morrison, and Alice Walker. She was subsequently Assistant Professor for American Studies at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle, where she will defend her Habilitation on Money and Gender in the American Novel at the end of April, 2005.

She has edited a volume on Chancen und Grenzen des Dialogs zwischen den Geschlechtern and published articles on U.S.-American literature and culture from the 18th to the 20th centuries, the construction of whiteness, masculinities, and basketball.
