Carsten Junker was born and brought up in Frankfurt/Main. He spent a year in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as a fellow of the American Congress/German Bundestag Exchange Program and has been studying German, English and American Studies at Humboldt-University since 1995. A year's study at Goldsmiths College at the University of London in 1997/98 inspired his research in concepts of difference concerning race, gender and sexuality. Alongside working as an assistant teacher for literary studies at the Institute for English and American Studies at Humboldt-University, he is preparing his masters thesis.
