Michael Funk
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

Michael Funk was born in 1973 in Berlin. He studied American Studies, History and German Literature at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. During the election cycle 2000 he spent six months in Washington, D.C. with the liberal think tank Americans for Democratic Action. Back in Berlin he continued his studies and received the Magister degree in 2002. His studies were mainly focused on American cultural history and politics with research interests ranging from Michel Foucault's theories on social discipline to the American War on Drugs which formed the topic of his MA thesis. After his graduation he spent some time working for the magazine politik&kommunikation. He is currently interning with the Vorwärts Verlagsgesellschaft while brooding about a PhD thesis.

Current research topics include:

  • American conservatism and the New Right
