Manuela ThielHumboldt-Universität zu Berlin
Born 1975 in Magdeburg. Studied American Studies, Political Science and Business Administration at Humboldt University in Berlin, Western Washington University, WA, and at the Universidad del País Vasco in Vitoria, Spain. After completing her M.A. at Humboldt University in 2002 she started working for Institut Ranke-Heinemann/IDP Education Australia in Berlin.
Study interests range from American foreign policy to political, social and cultural aspects of multicultural theory and its application to the North American society and the situation of American Indian cultures therein. The conference paper will review aspects of her MA thesis on American Indians and U.S. Higher Education: Between Cultural Assimilation and Self-Determination.
