In a film almost universally regarded as the classic Bond adventure, 007 has to battle a rich madman portrayed unforgettably by Gert Fröbe, who plans to raid Fort Knox to weaken the US' monetary power.
This was the film which really established the series as a cultural phenomenon, its success put both the title song, performed by American singer Shirley Bassey, as well as the film itself into the upper league. The year Ian Fleming died, the Bond style had been born.
