Haunted Dreams. Nightmares in American Culture

Kathrin Stoffregen
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

I was born in a small village in Lower Saxony near Hildesheim in 1977. After graduating from the Goethegymnasium in 1996, I came to Berlin to study English, History and Economics in order to become a teacher. Since I have been very young, my family and I have always been involved in activities surrounding international partnerships, twining towns etc., e.g. as exchange student in Spain, France and Britain or Youth Group Leader on student holidays or organizing parts of the world exposition EXPO2000 in Hanover. This kind of cumulated in my time in Minneapolis, Minnesota as an assistant teacher at the university.

Also since many years I am a fan of crime novels, suspense thrillers and especially those that are to some extent "strange". With "Twin Peaks" and "Lost Highway", my admiration for David Lynch was raised.
